Founded in October 2000 and approved by the Ningbo Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, the Ningbo Fastener Industry Association (NFIA) is a non-profit industry organization composed of fastener manufacturers and the related upstream and downstream enterprises in Ningbo. Today the association counts 144 member enterprises, of which about 95% are above designated size. Its product range covers bolts, nuts, spring washers, threaded rods, high-strength structural sets, premium architectural and decorative hardware, special-shaped parts, automotive components and more — widely applied in clean-power generation equipment, wind and nuclear power, high-end vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, rail transit, shipbuilding, petrochemicals, engineering machinery, metallurgy and mining equipment, electronic manufacturing and other strategic industries, as well as landmark national projects such as the Beijing National Stadium ("Bird's Nest"), the Hangzhou Bay Bridge and the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge. In April 2011 Ningbo was first awarded the title of "Capital of Fasteners in China", and successfully passed the national re-assessment in April 2021, retaining the honor.
